Youth Minister

Youth Ministry Director

Coordinator of Middle School Ministry and Coordinator of High School Ministry
At St. James the Apostle, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, a vibrant school and church community in Chicago’s western suburbs, we’re excited about our growing youth ministry program! In a move to provide more individualized programming for our teens, we are looking for TWO full-time youth ministry staff—a coordinator of middle school youth ministry, and a coordinator of high school youth ministry. The people we’re looking for have a passion for Christ and the Catholic faith tradition, possess spiritual and emotional maturity, and the ability to see the big picture while paying attention to the small details. The coordinators will inherit a program with two teen Masses per month along with after-Mass programming, as well as some already-developed weekend, mission, service, and related events. Both coordinators will have a role in recruiting, training, and sustaining core groups of youth and adults. We’re looking for practicing Catholics who have the following in their backgrounds: bachelor’s degree in communication, ministry, or a related field; previous experience in ministry, social/youth work or faith formation; proven leadership ability in volunteer organizations; demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change; demonstrated ability to create, manage and implement innovative programs; proven organizational skills. Mostly, we’re looking for people who have the ability to sustain programs that will help our kids see Christ in the middle of their hectic, often messy lives. Coordinator of Youth Ministry
St. Stephen’s Parish in Midland, Texas, is seeking a Eucharistic-centered person (or couple) to serve as full-time coordinator of youth ministry, bilingual preferred (English/Spanish). Qualifications include: BA in religious studies, theology or related field. Two years paid experience in youth ministry and/or religious education in a parish (LifeTeen a plus) with music/worship experience. Responsibilities include: build a spiritual, relational and experiential youth program; lead/coordinate catechetical formation for 7th-12th graders; provide retreats; service/social activities; and develop sports programs (including basketball). Person must be self-motivated and have strong leadership, social, organizational, and computer skills. Youth Minister
Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach, California, in the Diocese of Orange is looking for a full-time youth minister to coordinate youth ministry for both junior high and senior high parishioners that includes weekly gatherings and weekend retreats for both age groups as well as a consistent personal and compassionate presence and availability to the teens. The youth minister must be energetic, relatable, flexible, and approachable. He or she must be a committed Catholic who is knowledgeable in Catholic Christianity and able to communicate Catholic teaching effectively to teenagers. The job description includes weekly meetings with the pastor, monthly meetings with the staff, and occasional diocesan youth ministry meetings. The youth minister must develop various levels of leadership among the teens themselves and work closely with parents and other adults.
