NDDI offered a rich blend of inspiring workshops, interactive activities, and moments of prayer, all aimed at strengthening participants’ understanding of the responsibilities and spiritual practices essential for diocesan leadership. Throughout the sessions, attendees examined the foundations of ministry with young people, the vital role of diocesan directors, and the range of internal and external responsibilities their positions entail. A particular highlight of the institute was the opportunity to engage in consultations with leaders in the field, providing valuable insight, mentorship, and real-world perspective. Time set aside for personal reflection and peer discussion allowed participants to identify their unique strengths and areas for growth, while also offering practical guidance on how to align their ministry with their individual gifts.
Wednesday morning, attendees visited the USCCB offices in Washington, D.C., where they participated in advocacy training focused on amplifying the voices of those they serve. Participants were also given the opportunity to interact with representatives from ten different USCCB Offices, learning more about how each supports their work.
NDDI concluded with a commissioning ceremony, where participants were honored for their dedication to ministry and empowered with the tools to continue growing in their leadership and service to the Church.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into NDDI, but I was incredibly impressed by how supported I felt leaving, not only by the NFCYM team, but also by the community that formed among those attending. The sessions covered excellent topics that were all relevant and applicable to my ministry, and the discussions and collaborative time with others were especially meaningful. That shared wisdom and space for dialogue made the experience both practical and encouraging.
