Learn More About Christina:

Q1. WHAT IS YOUR JOB TITLE?

Executive Director

Q2. WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES?

I serve as the Executive Director, leading and overseeing the administration, management, and operations of NFCYM. In this role, I actively participate on the NFCYM Board of Directors and various committees while also serving as the NFCYM liaison with outside organizations. I direct all public relations and advocacy functions and create transformational engagement opportunities. I am grateful to work alongside a dedicated and passionate team that collaborates with many stakeholders to bring our vision to life and positively impact the larger Church community.

Q3. WHY DO YOU WORK FOR NFCYM?

In 2017, I enthusiastically joined NFCYM because I am genuinely passionate about Pope Francis’s vision echoed in Evangelium Gaudium of our collective ability to empower young people to embrace their role of “street preachers” or “callejeros de la fe.” It brings me great joy to envision them spreading the message of Jesus throughout every street, town square, and corner of the world, with the support of nurturing adults through formation, resources, and networking.

Q4. Who accompanied you as a young person?

Many caring adults saw in me (a young teen) what I could not see, beginning with my mom, followed by the parishioners in my home parish, St. Louis of France Church in La Puente, CA. I will forever be thankful to all these adults, both lay and clergy, who helped me to feel like a valued member of a community – I belonged. They recognized that I could contribute significantly beyond warming a seat or passing papers. They called me by name, gave me purpose, encouraged me to dream, and supported my risky ideas. Their unwavering belief in me and genuine care made a lasting impact, for which I am truly grateful.

Q5. WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS?

My top five Clifton Strengths are: Developer, Empathy, Achiever, Futuristic, Belief.

Q6. What has been your favorite moment in ministry?

Throughout my 25+ years in ministry, I’ve had the blessing to create countless meaningful memories. Among these, the experiences that shine the brightest are watching my child participate in opportunities that I had hoped she would experience even before she was born – such as parish youth ministry, retreats, diocesan camps, NCYC, sacramental preparation, and being embraced by caring adults. My second favorite memory was witnessing a group of young people prepare and address Pope Francis, followed by their heartfelt sharing of their experiences with their families and peers. These cherished moments continue to fuel my passion for serving and supporting those who accompany our young church.
