Bishop O’Connell at 2022 NCYC

The NFCYM community is deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Bishop David G. O’Connell. We offer prayers for the repose soul of Bishop O’Connell, his family, and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

During the 2022 NCYC, participants were blessed to have Bishop O’Connell lead them in prayer in the Friday morning general session. He had a great love for the young church and truly advocated for empowering young people. While there are no words sufficient to express our gratitude for his service to the Church, we hope that by sharing the video of that general session, we can honor his memory and find a moment of peace. We join in Prayer...

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

May almighty God bless us with his peace and strength, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Accompanying a Young Person through Grief

Talking to young people about death is not an easy task. NFCYM has compiled a list of resources for ministers to accompany young people who are dealing with loss, death and are grieving.
