A Diversity and Inclusion Initiative
The Encountering Christ Video Series, an NFCYM member resource, through the ABIDE Initiative, is designed to help ministry leaders encounter and better understand the diversity of the U.S. Catholic Church.
Through this series, participants are invited to hear from our brothers and sisters in Christ about how Catholicism is lived and experienced within different cultural contexts. Rooted in the Church’s call to unity and inclusion, Encountering Christ was developed as part of NFCYM’s ongoing ABIDE and inclusion efforts to strengthen intercultural competency in ministry.
Today’s young people are more diverse than ever, and effective pastoral ministry calls us to listen, learn, and grow in our understanding of one another. This introductory series explores why intercultural awareness and inclusion are essential to who we are as Catholics and how these values can shape the way we minister, accompany, and lead.
Whether completed individually or with a small group, Encountering Christ is designed to foster meaningful conversation, reflection, and growth in ministry. Participants may watch together or view sessions independently before gathering for discussion. Future installments of the series will explore pastoral ministry with specific cultural families and communities.
Each session includes a short introduction to the theme, a featured video presentation, questions for personal reflection or group discussion, and additional resources for continued learning.
