Job Description: The Youth Ministry Coordinator is responsible for promoting the parish’s ministry with youth in junior and senior high school and with young adults. The youth ministry coordinator reaches out to all youth in the parish community, both English and Spanish speaking, provides for formal catechesis for the sacrament of Confirmation, is responsible for all aspects of the parish’s LifeTeen ministry and invites and enables youth to serve others. Job Description: The Coordinator of Youth Ministry is a lay ecclesial minister who is responsible for developing a pastoral ministry with youth. This includes weekly or bi-weekly gatherings, monthly activities, mission trips, regional, national, international events, and catechesis. The Coordinator is responsible for reaching out to all youth in the faith community, providing for formal catechesis, and inviting and enabling youth to serve others. In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for developing close communication with and mutual support from families of youth and collaborating with other communities, diocesan, and parish and school youth organizations.
The Youth Minister builds young disciples for Christ through a comprehensive Catholic youth ministry rooted in Life Teen resources, serving as spiritual leader, mentor, and role model while fostering faith formation via worship, discipleship, catechesis, mission, and outreach. They design, develop, and implement weekly, monthly, seasonal, and summer programming, Life Teen camps and conferences, track participation, and work with the Pastor to gather feedback and assess effectiveness. They recruit, train, interview, and supervise a strong Core team with clear policies, ensure strict compliance with the Diocese of St. Augustine’s Safe Environment requirements, and maintain alignment with parish and diocesan missions. The Youth Minister manages event logistics, paperwork, registrations, and funds; supports fundraising with youth involvement; collaborates with the parish business office on budgeting and stewardship; and coordinates communications with parents, parish staff, and public relations. They participate in Parish Council and monthly DOSA youth meetings and attend all DOSA youth events.
