Leadership Roundtable 2024 Catholic Partnership Summit

Expanding the Tent: Young Adult Leadership and Co-Responsibility in the Catholic Church

Earlier this spring, Catholic leaders gathered in Virginia from February 28 – March 1, 2024, for the Leadership Roundtable 2024 Catholic Partnership Summit.

The Catholic Partnership Summit convenes Catholic leaders from across the globe annually to address the Church’s most pressing challenges and opportunities. The theme for the 2024 Catholic Partnership Summit was Expanding the Tent: Young Adult Leadership and Co-Responsibility in the Catholic Church, which explored various aspects of young adult leadership and what that means for the present and future of the Church.

Over the course of the summit, participants engaged in a series of events, including keynote sessions, roundtable discussions, and receptions. The keynote sessions featured panels addressing topics ranging from Young Adults in a Synodal Church to The Church We Want to Be: An Authentic Place for All to Belong. These summit sessions focused on the pressing need for young adult leadership in the Church, addressing their recruitment, retention, and formation concerns.

Insights from NFCYM Members:

Several members of NFCYM attended the summit, and we spoke with them to gather their thoughts and key takeaways from the event.

"The Leadership Roundtable was an insightful and inspiring experience. Young adults possess an irreplaceable presence in our parishes and faith communities, and the roundtable recognized that by emphasizing synodal listening and meaningful calls to action."

"The 2024 Catholic Partnership Summit was focused on young adult leadership and co-responsibility. Along with the Synod on Youth, the V Encuentro, the National Dialogue, and other recent young adult-focused efforts, this summit modeled how to invite young adults to have significant leadership roles and co-responsibility in our Church. My biggest takeaway was challenging myself to be more intentional in inviting and involving young adults in leadership roles in my office's vision and offerings."
