Nomination FAQ

The NFCYM Board of Directors is primarily responsible for defining the organization's mission, strategy, and goals, and ensuring adherence to legal and ethical standards. They also bear the responsibility of securing the financial stability and sustainability of NFCYM. Furthermore, the board oversees the recruitment and management of the Executive Director, and ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical principles to maintain the organization's integrity.
The board meets virtually on a quarterly basis and attends one board retreat yearly.
The main responsibilities of the nominating committee include receiving candidates from each episcopal region, identifying at-large candidates, and presenting a proposed slate of director nominees to the board for approval.

A regional candidate must be a current member of NFCYM (diocesan, associate, organizational, or constitutive) residing in one of our episcopal regions in the United States.
An at-large candidate is someone who brings specific expertise or experience that the board determines is in the best interests of NFCYM. Membership in NFCYM is not required.
During the nomination process, all candidates are brought forth and thoroughly reviewed by the nominating committee. The committee uses the criteria outlined in the bylaws (articles 3, 4, and 5), and expectations affirmed by the board to create a slate of candidates that will be subject to membership voting.
Nominations can be submitted between August through October.
The nomination form can be found on the Board of Directors webpage early August. To view the page, Click Here >.
The slate will be announced towards the end of November.
- The voting period will take place electronically at the end of January, one week prior to the member meeting taking place at Exchange. An email will be sent to confirm all designated member representatives for voting.
- An email will be sent to each designated member representative with a link to the ballot. Reminder notices will be sent during the week of the voting period to those designated member representatives who have not yet voted.
The results are announced in the member meeting portion of Exchange. Exchange is a gathering where individuals can come together to inspire one another, share innovative ideas, network with others in the field of youth ministry, and join in prayer as a community. Exchange takes place every first week of February.
