Learn More About Molly:
Q1. WHAT IS YOUR JOB TITLE?
Membership Coordinator
Q2. WHAT ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES?
As the Membership Coordinator, my primary responsibility is to be the point person for all NFCYM members. I want to ensure that all our members feel engaged and connected within the organization and with each other. I also want to encourage members to network together to foster collaborative communication supporting youth ministry work nationwide.
Q3. WHY DO YOU WORK FOR NFCYM?
Since I was a brand-new youth minister, I have been involved in the offerings of NFCYM. I know how much the gift of belonging to a national organization can be for ministry, and I want to help be a conduit for others. Also, as a parent of a teenager and soon-to-be teenager, I urgently understand the importance of youth ministry and want to continue to help support this in my role at NFCYM.
Q4. Who accompanied you as a young person?
As a young person, I had many mentors and spiritual leaders: incredible youth ministers, pastors, and parish volunteers who guided me and kept me grounded in faith. I clearly remember sitting at a youth retreat and hearing the main speaker talk about his call to youth ministry. His passion and energy for his ministry were inspiring, and something moved within me during his talk. I began to hear the call from the Lord to go into ministry and serve his young people. I have been following that call for almost 25 years.
Q5. WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS?
My top five Clifton Strengths are: Communication, Strategic, Developer, Belief, and Includer.
What does that mean? I love bringing people together for a common mission and creating new ways to help them feel supported and encouraged in their ministry.
Q6. What is your most embarrassing moment in ministry?
I was on a youth trip with High School teens very early in my career as a youth minister, and we were getting ready to leave the park. It wasn’t until we were about 30 minutes away that someone noticed a missing teen. Right then and there, I knew I would lose my job and that my career in ministry would end. Luckily, the teen knew to go to guest services and was there when we returned to pick him up. My boss at the time shared the greatest wisdom about failure I have ever received. She said, “Well, I bet you won’t ever do that again! It is a good thing that God gives us these moments of failure so we can learn from them.” She was right; I never did that again!
