Youth Awards

Recognize Youth Who Model Christ in Their Communities

Christus Vivit National Youth Award

“Do not leave it to others to be protagonists of change. You are the ones who hold the future!”

“The Church needs your momentum, your intuitions, your faith.”

-- Pope Francis, Christus Vivit

About the Award

The Christus Vivit National Youth Award recognizes young Catholics in either their junior or senior year of high school who have helped bring Christ to life in their parishes, schools, and local communities.

These are the young people who live and model what it means to be a missionary disciple in the world today through:

  • Christian service and stewardship
  • Advocacy for those in need
  • Modeling Christian living
  • Serving as lights for the world

Made available through NFCYM, the Christus Vivit National Youth Award can be presented annually to any junior or senior who demonstrates the good news of Jesus Christ alive within their community.

Parish and high school leaders are encouraged to personally present these awards on or near the Global Celebration of Young People celebrated on Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe Sunday (formerly Christ the King Sunday).

Global Celebration of Young People

Pope Francis, calling for a renewal of youth celebrations in local churches, announced that beginning in 2021 he would “transfer the diocesan celebration of WYD from Palm Sunday to Christ the King Sunday. The center of the celebration remains the Mystery of Jesus Christ the Redeemer of Man, as Saint John Paul II, the initiator, and patron of WYD, always emphasized.”

The next Global Celebration of Young People takes place on:
Sunday, November 26, 2024
