Q&A with Ryan Bao

Where are you based?

I am based in San Jose, CA. 

How long have you worked for NFYCM?

I have worked for NFCYM since my sophomore year of college and am almost at 5 full years with NFCYM. (October 9^th, 2017 – Current)

Outside of work, what do you like to do?

I get bored very easily, so I am always filling my time with more hobbies. One of my favorite things right now is COFFEE! You can never have too much espresso! I also love to be out on the trail (running or hiking) when I get the time, learn new swing dance moves, destroy my forearms climbing on rocks, and play video games with my friends.  

What is something about you that most folks might not know?

You wouldn’t know that when first meeting me, I only wear neutral colors: black, white, and grey (we love minimalism!). But if you knew for a while, you would soon catch on.

What do you do at NFYCM?

As the Event Marketing Specialist, I manage everything that you see regarding NCYC including the website, emails, and social posts. In addition, I am proud to be the staff liaison to the National Youth Advisory Council that advises all NFCYM’s projects and beyond.

What is the best part about your job – why do you do what you do?

The best part of my job is the people. I love networking and connecting with our members, working with our team, and branching out to other organizations who serve the same mission as we do. People who serve in this field always bring me hope and assurance especially when parish youth ministry gets hard.
